What are the Best Practices for Arc-Rated PPE in your Electrical Safety Program?
e-Hazard recommends using AR t-shirts as an undergarment for these reasons:
- Adds extra protection by adding that extra layer underneath an AR shirt
- Eliminates risk of ignition by taking out ignitable t-shirt (a risk with an ejected arc, arc-in-a-box, or tracking arc in high voltage)
- Under sleeves, this makes the upper torso about as great as the protection for the hands and arms.
Manufacturers have tried to make the job of managing your arc-rated undergarment program easier by marking the t-shirts so that they are easier to recognize.
- Logos on the front of the shirt
- Different colored collar
