Our “hats are off” to Joe Rachford for his community service to young people and college students in Florence, KY!
Fifteen years ago, motivated by his former employer’s decision to follow NFPA 70E®, Joe developed a 2-hour electrical safety class. Years later, he decided to use that material as a way to share his electrical experience to students in area schools. For five years he served 18 high schools and two community colleges. He even adapted that material for his grandson’s 5th grade class.
Recently he taught his course to an electrical construction apprenticeship class at Gateway Community College. As with this class and those he taught before, he gives his time freely because he is passionate about teaching basic electrical safety procedures to those who are entering the electrical field. In the past, he has seen some of those students in his classroom become employees at the same plant he worked at, so he understands the importance of teaching accurate and applicable information.
Now as an instructor for e-Hazard, he continues to donate his time to impart his enthusiasm for electrical safety to local students. Keep up the good work, Joe! We hope many more people will benefit from your experience and knowledge, and others will even choose to forge their own careers in the electrical industry.
