A & D Wood Products has been cited for health and safety violations: four willful, four repeated, and nineteen serious.

In 2011, they were cited for violations similar to some cited recently. The company now faces over $133,000 in fines and has been placed on OSHA’s Severe Violator Enforcement Program.

Of the four willful violations, one is for employees working around combustible dust.  Another was for not providing eye and face protection when working around flying particles.

OSHA defines a willful violation as …”a violation in which the employer either knowingly failed to comply with a legal requirement (purposeful disregard) or acted with plain indifference to employee safety.”

Other violations include not providing adequate training, not using proper LO/TO devices, and not providing safeguards on dangerous equipment.

Being listed on the Severe Violator Enforcement Program means the employer must submit to mandatory inspections by OSHA, increase company-wide awareness of OSHA’s enforcement on their company, and make sure all the company’s facilities are complying with the standards.
