Listen and watch this.
Any electrical safety professional will feel for the employee and the fellow workers but as others said, “They are blaming the victim”. This is a safety case study in how NFPA 70E, proper electrical safety training and proper PPE can totally save lives. NFPA 70E has three safeguards in place for this work that WOULD have saved Eddie’s life. It only takes simple steps, simple PPE and basic training. A 600V meter across 2300V is totally survivable if the company will put the electrical maintenance workers in the right PPE for all electrical work. Ignitable clothing is unacceptable for anyone opening a panel. I would love to audit this plant today.
The tragic story of how a worker, Eddie Adams, died from an arch flash, and how it impacted his co-workers and his family.
