NIOSH Database Gives Useful Info on PPE Standards

The National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health has developed a useful database that contains information on applicable standards and regulations on various PPE.

I typed “arc flash” in the search field, and this is part of the list.  Does very well.  Not a ton of guidance but excellent in what it recommends.

About the Database

The PPE-Info Database serves as a compilation of Federal regulations and consensus standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The purpose of the database is to provide standards developers, manufacturers, purchasers and end users of PPE with a comprehensive tool to be able to search for relevant information. This information includes the following:

  • federal standards,
  • associated product types,
  • target occupational groups,
  • basic conformity assessment specifications, and
  • accredited lab information.

This database has the intention of growing, dependent upon how users of the database respond to it. All comments and suggestions to improve this site are welcome.
