Video Transcript
OSHA 1910.269 and NFPA 70E both mention tucking in you shirt before you do energized work. This is a change, but the change is there because we want to make sure no energy gets up underneath the shirt. There are two reasons for that. Number one, we wanna make sure that we don’t ignite a cotton t-shirt that may be underneath the shirt, and the other reason is, those hot gases, if they come up underneath your shirt, they’ll actually burn the exposed skin. We like to call this tuck, button and roll. So, you tuck the shirt in, button up your button, roll down your sleeves and button them. That way there’s no exposed skin in the areas of your body.
