Grounding Study
Service Overview
Grounding is the part of your electrical system that seems to only get attention when something goes wrong — a shock, a fire, a lightning strike, or equipment that keeps tripping for no obvious reason. Unfortunately by this point, its an emergency instead of a “simple fix.”
A Grounding Study tests your system now, in the present time while it’s still a choice and not a crisis. Need a clear, prioritized plan to close these gaps? A Grounding Study can help!
What Can you Expect from a Grounding Study?
- A review of our electrical drawings and any prior grounding records so we can focus on your specific problems and priorities, not just a generic checklist.
- A soil test is conducted to measure how well the soil conducts electricity. This sets the baseline for the study as the soil condition is critical.
- A ground resistance test of your existing grounding system (rods, grid, building steel, etc…) and we compare the results to the code requirement.
- A grid & bonding inspection is performed as we inspect wires and connections for corrosion or damage. We also verify that PCS’s and VFD’s are properly bonded.
- Findings as well as an action plan are presented. This way, all deficiencies found are prioritized by risk and cost. We can then assist with a remediation plan with specific corrective actions.
