Electrical Engineering Services
e-Hazard’s Professional Engineers are happy to assist with arc flash studies. We can also provide coordination studies, short circuit studies, and assist you with arc flash hazard mitigation. Harmonic studies are another one of our expert services we can provide. Our goal is to keep you electrically compliant and safe while working efficiently.
We provide a comprehensive arc flash study including full on-site evaluation, modeling, analysis drawing, fault current and coordination studies.
Our qualified NFPA 70E, IEEE-registered experts can perform a detailed inspection of your plant or facility, regardless of size or location throughout North America.
An engineering study in which protective devices (i.e. relays, fuses, circuit breakers, etc.) are modeled against one another to determine their optimal settings. This is done to achieve selectivity in the event of a fault (limit affected equipment), protect equipment, and limit incident energy (protect employees).
A short circuit study, often referred to as a fault study, is an analysis that engineers perform to determine the maximum available fault current at discrete points in the system (i.e. switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, MCC’s, etc.). This is done to ensure that new equipment being installed is suitably rated for the intended installation, as well as ensuring existing equipment is not overdutied (meaning the available fault current is not greater than the rating of the equipment ).
Arc flash hazard mitigation involves taking steps to minimize the level of hazards within your facility in the event of an arc flash. PPE is sometimes thought of as the solution to injury, but this will not guarantee someone will be injury-free in an arc flash. It is important to consider the safety within your facility from an engineering standpoint to ensure the lowest risk for all workers.
If you have ever had a premature lighting ballast failure or equipment drive failure, then these could very well be caused by harmonics.
A harmonic current is caused by non-linear loads connected to the distribution system. A load is non-linear when the current does not have the same waveform as the supply voltage. These harmonic currents are generated by industrial equipment as well as electrical equipment in offices and usually result in soaring electric bills. A harmonic study can save energy which, in turn, can save costs for your facility.
