Bill Shinn has more than 40 years of experience in electrical safety management and consulting. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Indiana with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in behavioral science.
Bill was employed by Alcoa Aluminum’s smelting and rolling facility in Newburgh, Indiana from 1970 until 2002, in positions including Engineering and Maintenance Manager, Chief Electrical Engineer, and Chairman of the Alcoa Electrical Safety Committee; he developed Alcoa Electrical Safety Standard 32.60. Since 2002 Bill has been an electrical safety consultant and trainer and performs arc hazard analyses for customers. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and a voting member of ASTM F18.
