2) the NESC has a new Chair and Vice Chair.

Read here for more details.

Several changes can be seen in this update, including revised requirements for substation impenetrable fences.

IEEE launched a new item: the 2017 NESC® Handbook, Premier Edition. This handbook includes commentary by contributors and a representation of the code text to help professionals improve their understanding of the code. Another helpful tool coming out this fall will be IEEE’s online courses based on the NESC® 2017 Edition.

IEEE is described as the world’s largest technical professional organization that is dedicated to advancing technology to benefit people everywhere.

The 2017 NESC® is the authoritative code for making sure utility facilities and people are safe during the installation, operation and maintenance of electrical supply and communication equipment. This resource is revised every 5 years.
